Diners Club and Discover cardmembers are experiencing the best Point of Sale acceptance in the UK for years. This is due to the launch of WorldPay, the largest provider of card processing in the UK, and Lloyds TSB Bank, the largest retail bank in the UK.
“The WorldPay and Lloyds relationships will benefit millions of consumers travelling to the region each year, while also benefiting accepting merchants with an opportunity to capture more tourism spend,” said Amy Parsons, vice president of Discover Network. It is estimated that 10.5 million people will travel to the UK in 2012, with 8.5 million visiting London alone. The launch comes at a significant time for businesses in the UK that are preparing for the London 2012 Olympic Games and an influx of high-spending foreign visitors.
